Whittlesford Horkey Song
Year 5 pupils learnt the song that was sung at the evening Horkey Supper (harvest supper) in times past. The farmer would treat the workers with a slap-up meal of beef, plum pudding and beer in a barn decorated with flowers, corn and fruit. The Horkey Song was repeated as many times as there were workers and each man would have to drink a whole mug of ale during the chorus and not spill a drop. Afterwards there would be singing and dancing.
