Hickathrift - A Folk Song Written by Nicky Stockman especially for Orchards Primary School
Hickathrift the Wisbech Giant
Fought against an evil tyrant
On the Smeeth the Ogre slain
The Wisbech Fens are safe again
A poor fen boy from Marshland came
To fight the ogre at his game
His cart smashed up, he beat him down
And tore his tongue out for his crown
Hickathrift the Wisbech Giant
Fought against an evil tyrant
On the Smeeth the Ogre slain
The Wisbech Fens are safe again
When Tom died, a knight so brave
An 8 foot stone to mark his grave
He hurled a rock with all his power
Which hit the side of Tilney Tower
Hickathrift the Wisbech Giant
Fought against an evil tyrant
On the Smeeth the Ogre slain
The Wisbech Fens are safe again
Hickathrift the Wisbech Giant
Fought against an evil tyrant
On the Smeeth the Ogre slain
The Wisbech Fens are safe again
