The Wisbech of old
Wisbech still has strong connections to the fen landscape and many jobs in the area are provided by the land or the produce that grows on and in it. Agriculture has been important to the Wisbech economy for centuries and many of the celebrations, customs and traditions practised in Wisbech relate to the land. Today, as part of the Enid Porter’s Folk Project, children in the town are bringing many of the customs back to life in the twenty first century. Here are some images of the town in the days that the traditions were widely practised.
